Sean Lange

Hello, you are here because you want to know more about me... so here you go... I am an advanced Drupal developer with a wide range of development skills, Drupal experience, and drupal experience including:

  • Drupal Coding and Configuration
  • Drupal Module Development
  • Drupal Debugging
  • Drupal Theming
  • PHP
  • MySQL
  • LAMP Stack
  • JQuery
  • HTML
  • CSS
  • Revision Control Systems (svn, git)
  • Command line SSH

Breaking into Drupal several years ago, my bread and butter was definitely Drupal theming. I still greatly enjoy working in the theming layer of Drupal and creating/customizing template files, preprocess functions, and user interfaces. There is an immediate level of satisfaction that is exciting for clients because of the huge visual impact it has, when the theme starts to come together. One of my proudest accomplishments to date is the work I was able to contribute to Lullabot for their massive undertaking of re-launching WWE.COM in Drupal. As part of the team, I was responsible for working with WWE designers and developers on the templates, layouts, jQuery and user interfaces. The experience even included the opportunity to go to Stamford, work directly with their staff, and a brief tour of the WWE HQ... What a Blast!

It was not long before I was doing Advanced Building of Drupal sites. I quickly started learning and mastering things like Views, Content Construction Kit (CCK), and Panels. As my knowledge and experience in the 'power modules' grew it opened the door to some pretty amazing Drupal builds, content displays, and dynamic results. The modules and configurations on social networking sites like Wall Street Oasis and Chattersource is very extensive, leveraging both the build in module capabilities, and customizing some aspects for maximum benefit of the clients needs and the user experience.

So currently, I am knee deep in code. Writing custom modules and altering (hooking) into modules to meet the needs of my clients. I have gained an understanding of how to leverage the Drupal API, Features/Strongarm, and Contributed Module Hooks for high level results. On a project for a major corporation leading their industry for international education and training called Intrax, I created a really nice "Choose my Program" user interface that leveraged the power of Views, customizing some of the code, templates, and writing custom jQuery for a satisfying user interface that meets the needs of the client and the end user.

I believe very strongly that the power of open-source is the people within the community. The Drupal community is strong, skilled, hip, and creative. I have meet dozens of amazing folks and I work really hard to be one of those who contributes back:

  • Created a Theme available at Drupal.org
  • Contribute Patches and Code
  • Present and Lecture on Drupal Topics
  • Attend DrupalCons and Camps
  • Writing a Drupal Blog
  • Co-Chair Tri-Valley Drupal User Group
  • Drupal Demonstrations and Consulting

As the founder of Webthingee, I operate on the principal of elegant simplicity; I plan, build, and develop websites that are easy and intuitive for the visitor, the content contributors and the site maintainers. I am committed to creating products for clients that are solid, standards compliant, and capable of being infinitely upgradable. If you are interested in seeing some of the builds, custom work, and consulting I have attempted to compile and update the full range of websites including those for small-medium businesses, corporation multi-sites, entertainment sites and social platforms, on my portfolio.
